Project Overview

Shalem Hospice Care has a passion for providing comfort, dignity and peace for their patients and families.

Problem

Shalem Hospice had humble beginnings and their small staff worked from a network of referrals. New business development efforts between hospital doctors and Shalem staff resulted in a high demand for their services. Shalem was growing fast and needed to establish a web presence, but they didn’t even have a logo.

PROCESS
Discovery | Research

We did a creative brief meeting to learn about our Shalem’s challenges and goals. Then we created a styleboard based on the creative brief. The styleboard included a persona, a color palette, typography, patterns and icons this would guide the visual language and web communication needs for this project.

Sketches | Wireframes

Once the client reviewed the styleboards and indicated which direction they wanted to head visually, we started sketching logo concepts and putting together website ideas.

Ideation | Design

We created a welcoming and calming look with the use of a color palette, typography, patterns and illustrations. We did something different from other organizations in the Hospice industry and  coordinated a photoshoot to show authentic experiences around hospice care. When the branding was completed we worked together with the development team to build and launch the website.

Challenges

Shalem’s target audience was actually two audiences, ‘families of patients’ and ‘medical practitioners who refer patients to hospice care.’  It was challenging,  but in the end we created a great experience for both users and won a Silver Indigo Design Award for the work
